FARM NEWS (4 Notes)

#1 - NO FRESH BAKING THIS WEEK... BUT WE STILL HAVE LOTS

I'm excited to be attending the Basing Food Expo this week to mingle and meet and learn with a bunch of local food people. So I will not be around to do any fresh baking. But.. have no fear! The freezer is well stocked with A LOT of delicious, sliced bread and bagels. So come on by anytime and grab what you'd like.

Next fresh baking will be for Friday November 14th.

#2 - EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS

Have you heard? We have eggs again and they are superb! We are so in love with our hens and the fact that their eggs are amazing is just the cherry on top. We have welcomed a new woman onto the farm, her name is Nav, and she is caring for our flock with all the love and attention we could hope for. We think this is showing in our high levels or production and beautiful product.

We have a few options for eggs varieties and prices at the moment.
  • Small Eggs - $6/dozen
  • Medium Eggs - $8/dozen
  • Large + XL Eggs (mixed) - $9/dozen
  • Jumbo Eggs - $12/dozen (often double yolked)
  • Egg Flats - $18.75 for 30 Medium Eggs - ideally you could load these into your own cartons or please return the flat.
Because our flock is still young, we are seeing a wide variety of sizes for our eggs. In time, this will level out and become a more standard Large/XL dozen.

We have so many eggs right now, please feel free to tell friends, family, neighbours and strangers on the street that they can get their farm fresh egg fix with Grow Wild this season.

#3 - FARM STAND GOODS

The stand is still well stocked with lots of delicious options. We have potatoes, squash, pumpkins, lettuce, green onions, onions, beets, turnips, carrots, preserves, frozen goodies and more! We also have APPLES that are SO GOOD... we're in love with the red ones. No idea what they are... but the crunch and density are delightful and a little like biting into sunshine.

We're stocking some gorgeous fresh mint from the greenhouse today! Pop that in a mug, pour some hot water over top, curl up with a good book and watch the sunset at 3pm. November goals.

#4 - CLOSING RANT FROM ME

Have an awesome rest of your week and weekend everyone.

I'll be out schmoozing at the Basin Food Expo and learning more about our totally one-of-a-kind local food landscape. We are so lucky to be part of this community locally. Beyond that, there is the broader Kootenay region with so many amazing growers and producers of some of the highest quality food you can get. This area is truly one of a kind. It is not lost on us here at Grow Wild that in a world full of division and confusion, we are together and we are clear on our commitment to local food and resiliency. Its November now, a well-established month for farmers when the burn-out hits pretty hard... but doing this work and putting our heads down to focus on feeding our community is a gift, and one we don't take for granted.

Look forward to seeing many of you back in the stand for fresh bread next week.

NOTE: Our farm stand is open daily during daylight hours and is stocked with lots of fresh fruit and veggies (in season), eggs, waffles, crackers and more. Come on by anytime.

Feel free to pass on our order form or website (www.growwild.com) to friends and family who might be interested in receiving fresh sourdough products over this fall and winter season.
