FARM NEWS (5 Notes)
#1 - FRESH BAKING THIS WEEK
|
It was a great week back in the kitchen. We were glad that we remembered how to make bread after taking so many weeks off! Phew. Thanks very much to everyone who came and picked up loaves, we were happy to see so many people come by and stock up.
|
On offer for pickup this Friday and Saturday:

- Simple Sourdough Loaves - $10
- Cinnamon Raisin Loaves - $11
- Cheese (and maybe) Garlic Loaves - $12 (depends on the garlic)
- Seedy Whole Wheaty Loaves - $11
- Black Olive + Olive Oil Loaves - $12
- Seedy Bagels - Mixed and Sesame - $2 each
- Everything Bagels - $2 each
- Cheese Bagels - $2.50 each
- Cinnamon Raisin Bagels - $2 each

Pickup will begin at 12pm on Friday at the Farm Stand for any items ordered this week. I will have your pre-ordered items in bags with your names on them.

#3 - HAVE YOU SEEN OUR TOTE BAGS?
|
We have made some lovely branded tote bags. They are 100% natural, made of jute and cotton. They are durable, practical and beautiful (if we do say so ourselves). They are for sale in our farm stand for $17 each and we really hope you like them. See the images below for a sneak peek.

For the last 15+ years I have been using shopping bags from my favourite grocery store back in Toronto, Fiesta Farms. Every year they come out with a new design and every few years since moving out here I ask my sister to re-stock my supply. They are the perfect size... not too big, not too small... they last a long time, they have long handles that can go over your shoulder and I just think they are the ultimate shopping bag for loading up with your favourite groceries. I often get compliments on them for their good looks and practicality.

So, I reached out to the producer, worked with our local graphic guru Shauna at Design Farm to help develop a design... and we made our own version so we could bring this cherished item to the Kootenays!
|

#4 - WHAT ELSE IS IN THE STAND?
|
We are still waiting on our early spring crops to size up. With these colder days things are moving a bit slower. This week we will be harvesting and stocking:
|
- Stinging Nettle - $7/bag
- Green Onions - $4/bunch
- Bagged Kale - $4/bag
From our other suppliers we have:

- Frozen bread and bagels
- Waffles and Crackers - coming this weekend

We're looking for someone to join our team! If you know of anyone who might suit us, please pass along our contact info and have them reach out. We're seeking a farm hand to work in the garden. Lots of planting, harvesting, bed prep/flipping, weeding, washing and packing. We're looking for a hearty, all-weather, kinda person. Good attention to detail, a solid work ethic and a genuine interest in feeding our community the best food we possibly can.

NOTE: Our farm stand is open daily during daylight hours and is stocked with lots of fresh fruit and veggies (in season), eggs, waffles, crackers and more. Come on by anytime.

Our address is 655 Ferguson Rd. When you pull into the driveway you can turn right just before the stables. There are signs directing you down to the farm stand parking lot. You then walk across the lawn to the little farm stand cabin.

Payment is through the honour system. We have a cash box on the table. If you do not have cash you can e-transfer to emily@growwild.com. All proceeds from our sales go back into the farm.
