FARM NEWS (5 Notes)

#1 - We're Back! Pre-Order Here for pickup on Saturday February 1st.

Thanks for waiting. We had an awesome and restorative family weekend and we're ready to get back to work.

Pre-Orders are now open for all fresh micro-bakery sourdough products. Please click this link: https://forms.gle/5QNAzk283RTPKFB26 to place your pre-orders. If the form is not accessible for you, please just reply to this note or send me a message and I'll put it in for you.

We will be taking orders until Thursday evening. I will bake extra items for folks who want to pop in and see what we've got.

Pickup will begin at 10am on Saturday at the Farm Stand for any items ordered this week. Please do not come before 10am on Saturday. I am often baking until the very last minute, I'm tied to the oven... and need all the time to get things set up. I will have your pre-ordered items in bags with your names on them. Any other loose items on the table will be available for sale.

#2 - Feature Bagels This Week

This week bagel options will be:
  • Simple with Seeds
  • Cheese - These are $2.50 each because cheese is expensive.
  • Cinnamon + Raisin
#3 - Fresh or Frozen Pizza Dough

We are offering fresh or frozen pizza dough. If you're keen for some fresh dough, place your order in the pre-order form above. Frozen dough will be stocked in the freezer. The fresh dough will hold in the fridge for up to 5 or 6 days, you will just notice that the flavour will get more and more sour with each day as the flour continues to ferment. We find that this dough bakes up nicely fresh out of the fridge. We have been experimenting by doing pizza pockets and even a little garlic bread pull-apart with cheese and herbs. Its fun to play with for kids and has been serving us well as a staple in the fridge for quick and easy lunches, dinners or sides.

#4 - Egg Report

Because of our timing with our new hens this past summer, we are noticing that we are not seeing the early flush of eggs as we have come to expect with our spring-hatched birds. We appreciate your patience as we work with our girls to get production up and going. We look forward to a month or so from now when we should be seeing a solid increase in production. Thank you for your understanding.

#5 - Season Planning

We have placed seed orders and are planning out our growing season. If all goes well, we might even get some seeds started this weekend. Whoop Whoop!
This is a very exciting and hopeful time for growers... because everything seems possible. We imagine a world with steady, predictable weather, easy temperatures, clear skies, just enough rain, limited pest pressure and all the energy to get the work done. Reality is often something quite different... but we're enjoying the dream-state ... and we'd like to invite you to dream with us.
In the next week I will be sending out a little survey. We would love to hear from you about what you'd like to see us grow and grow into this season. We are committed to becoming a hyper-local supplier, focussing on food security for our community. Nothing would be more helpful than hearing directly from all of you about what you'd like us to work on. Some things we are wondering about are...
What food is staple in your household that you'd like to source locally?
What are some of your favourite seasonal fruits, veggies and treats?
What food would brighten our dark winter days?
How would you like to see the farm develop to better suit your needs?
What do you enjoy most about coming to Grow Wild?
These are some of the questions we have. Stay tuned for our survey and we look forward to hearing from you.
NOTE: Our farm stand is open daily during daylight hours and is stocked with lots of fresh fruit and veggies, eggs, jams, waffles, crackers and more!. Come on by anytime!

Feel free to pass on our order form or website (www.growwild.com) to friends and family who might be interested in receiving fresh sourdough products over this fall and winter season.
