FARM NEWS (3 Notes)


#1 - WOW. SPRING IS BUSY

We are in full swing on the farm right now. Prepping beds, getting irrigation going, planting so many things, pulling out so much grass, crawling around in the dirt during the day and falling asleep HARD at night. It's all go and I feel a little old.

We have lofty goals for our market garden yields this season. We have increased our bed space to 2x the size it was last year in our main field. We're aiming to have piles of vegetables. Let's see how we go.

#2 - FRESH BAKING THIS WEEK

Baking this week is just bread. We baked a ton of bagels last week, sliced them fresh and popped them all in the freezer. All your bagel needs should be able to be met... they'll just need a toaster.

In honour of our son's birthday which falls on ANZAC day in New Zealand, I am going to be baking Anzac Biscuits (cookies). These are a chewy, crunchy, caramelized, oat and coconut cookie. We will pop some bags of these into the stand this weekend along with some samples.

Also, I promise... there are waffles coming. I've mixed the base and we just need to waffle it up tomorrow. I'm trying to find the balance between the garden needs and the kitchen needs... and at this time of year, the garden is louder.

If you'd like to order a SANDWICH STYLE loaf, just send me a note and I can make that happen for you.

Pickup will begin at 12pm on Friday at the Farm Stand for any items ordered this week. I will have your pre-ordered items in bags with your names on them.

NOTE: Our farm stand is open daily during daylight hours, 365 days a year. Come on by!
LOCATION
Our address is 655 Ferguson Rd. When you pull into the driveway you can turn right just before the stables. There are signs directing you down to the farm stand parking lot. You then walk across the lawn to the little farm stand cabin.
