FARM NEWS (4 Notes)

#1 - THE MUD CAME EARLY

Not sure if you've noticed... but we've noticed... the mud is real on the driveway right now. Please drive and walk with caution. We are doing what we can, but with these conditions there is little we can do for real remediation until things firm up.

We're doing what we can to direct folks with what we've got available and to help you stay out of the worst of it. Feel free to park where you're comfortable and walk whether that be on the side of the driveway, further up towards the barn, etc.

#2 - FRESH BREAD + BAGELS THIS WEEKEND

The olive loaf was a serious hit! So I'm going to do it again. The added olive oil makes it so soft, the brine from the olives adds a good amount of hydration to the dough and the result was top notch! Hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.

Loaves available from 12pm on Friday Feb 6th
  • Simple Sourdough - $10
  • Seedy Whole Wheat - $11
  • Cheese + Garlic - $12
  • Olive Loaf with Black Olives and Olive Oil - $12
  • Cinnamon Raisin with a hint of Orange - $11
Bagels available from 12pm on Friday Feb 6th
  • Everything - $2 each
  • Seedy - $2 each
  • Cinnamon Raisin - $2 each
  • Cheese - $2.50 each
#3 - FROZEN BLUES + CHICKEN INCOMING

We have frozen blueberries hitting the freezer this weekend, grown just up the road by Dave Johnson. We're excited to be stocking these on his behalf. We're so lucky to have local producers like Dave and Sunshine Bay Retreats who bring us these delicious, anti-oxidant packed goodies grown right next door!

We also picked up a fresh batch of frozen chicken from Spencer at Quantum Farm in Passmore. This is the end of the Mistral Gris and there will be no more of these fatty flavourful chickens that make the best soup ever.

There are also a few packs of breast, thighs and drumsticks available! Spencer will be back in the spring with more chicken for all of us. We're excited to keep this partnership growing and to be supporting this massive effort to get locally raised, truly pastured, real poultry to all of us.

If you want to provide any feedback about the frozen chicken you've been picking up, please do. We want to know if you want it parted or whole, large or small, any particular type you've picked up from us and loved? etc. Spencer is trying to grow with our local needs and is open to hearing any insights.

These are a few great examples of the strength in community that we get to experience out here. Lucky us.

#4 - LOOKING FOR WORK?

We're deep into spreadsheet season here. So much planning for planting. So easy on paper... so much work in reality. I feel the fatigue already.

We are still looking for farm support through the season. If you know anyone interested in joining us as a Farm Hand this season, please pass along our contact info.

We're planting our first seeds this weekend, preparing the ground in our covered growing spaces, etc. We can't wait to start the process of tending to our plants and gardens this season. We have lofty goals and we'd love to deliver on 'em. We'll do our best :)

NOTE: Our farm stand is open daily during daylight hours and is stocked with lots of fresh fruit and veggies (in season), eggs, baking and more. Come on by anytime.

Feel free to pass on our order form or website (www.growwild.com) to friends and family who might be interested in receiving fresh sourdough products over this fall and winter season.
