FARM NEWS (2 Notes)
I'm a little late this week. so I'll keep it short. Hello Everyone!
#1 - FRESH BREAD TODAY / THIS WEEKEND + A NOTE ON BREAD
I'm just about to pop 12 fresh Simple Sourdough loaves into the oven. I'll have them out on the table today by 11am and we will bag them up and leave them whole for anyone to scoop up over the weekend.
The freezer remains stocked with a full supply of sliced loaves and bagels. The bagels last week turned out really nice, and in order to preserve their freshness as best we could, we sliced and froze whatever hadn't sold the day we baked them.
Apologies from me on dropping the regularity of bread over this fall and winter season. We are just not seeing the same level of interest and in order to balance our stock, it hasn't made sense for me to bake every week. We will be back to regular baking in April and until then we will continue to communicate when fresh options are available.
If you have feedback on this, please let me know.
Next Fresh Bread and Bagels will be in two weeks on February 6th.
in the meantime, we are working on keeping up with micro greens and re-stocking other items. I am busy making another big batch of pies today and those will be loaded into the freezer late afternoon today.
Savoury Egg Pies (stocked by Friday evening):
- Bacon + Egg with onions and potato
- Greens + Feta with leek, potato and garlic
- Greek Inspired with spinach, tomato, peppers, olives, feta + potato
- Broccoli + Cheese with cheddar, Swiss, potato and garlic.
Pop on by this weekend! We'll have the fire on.
We are putting out feelers for some on-farm assistance. We are working to fill a Farm Hand position to work alongside us this season. Tasks include bed prep, seed starts, planting, weeding, harvesting, wash/pack, general landscaping, kitchen work, chicken chores and more! We're looking for someone who doesnt mind the grind of physical work, who is reliable and motivated by the realities of working with the land to produce food for our local community. Bonus if they have market garden growing experience and/or food production experience of any kind.
We are looking for someone 2 days a week beginning asap, up to 3 days a week from June-September and then 2 days a week from October until we're wrapped for the season. Thanks everyone!
