FARM NEWS (6 Notes)
I have a lot to say today... so please be patient with me. It's been a crazy week as we wrap up school between the first 2 markets of the season and prepare to transition into summer at the farm... Hence the late newsletter ❤️
|
The strawberry patch is going OFF right now. We are furiously harvesting as much as we can and the farm stand is loaded with fresh pints. We are also picking, prepping and freezing as many as we can so we can all be rollin' in berries deep into the winter. The weather is about to shift, and if it goes as predicted... it could impact our harvest. So, pick 'em up while the picking is good.

#2 - MARKET SEASON ... has got us wondering

What is the best way to navigate this season for our customers?
|
We had a great first market. It felt great to be set up at Sunshine Bay and see our wonderful community all together and mingling. But... we're wondering... what do you want to see at the market? how do you prefer to pickup your weekly goodies? is there anything you'd like to see at the market, that you're not getting now? We are looking for feedback about how best we can serve you all during this market season. Send me a reply to this email with any thoughts you might have... or let us know when you see us around... or send a note by carrier pigeon... whatever works for you.

In the meantime, this is what our setup looks like:

Farm Stand is Always Open - our farm stand will continue to be stocked and open daily. All day, everyday, during daylight hours you will still be able to come on down to the stand and pickup your eggs, veggies, crackers, frozen bread, fruit, treats, etc.
|
At the Market - we will be bringing a whole pile of fresh baked bread and bagels, veggies, fruit, crackers, etc. (anything that's not frozen). We will be bringing a wide variety of great food to the table each and every week. The market is where you will be able to pickup fresh bread on a first come, first serve basis.
|
Pre-Orders - we are going to experiment with taking pre-orders for Sunday Pickup at the Farm Stand. If you are not headed to the market or would like to secure an order you can place your bread order and pick it up at the farm stand. We will not be bringing pre-orders to market. We are going to try out this system to see what demand is. If demand is too high, we will have to reassess and adjust our system.

As always, we appreciate your patience as we muddle through new and exciting scenarios. Tuning in here, or on instagram @growwild.farm will be the best place to get up to date information about where to get what and when.

Pickup will begin at 9am on Sunday at the Farm Stand for any items ordered this week. Please do not come before 9am on Sunday. I will have your pre-ordered items in bags with your names on them.

#5 - Greens Greens Greens
|
We are adjusting our mixed greens to increase the portion in each bag. So, as of this weekend you should start to notice your bags are a little more beefy.

#6 - Time to e'SCAPE the garlic drought
|
Just as everyone's garlic stores are running low... the scapes pop up to save the day! We have partnered with Heliotropic Farm again to get some gorgeous scapes and they will be stocked in the fridges by Thursday. You can use scapes just as you would garlic, in any recipe that calls for garlic. You can also chop them up, fry them in butter and throw them on top of your eggs. YUM. They will be featured in our Cheese + Garlic loaves until the fresh garlic comes ready in a couple months time.

NOTE: Our farm stand is open daily during daylight hours and is stocked with lots of fresh fruit and veggies (in season), eggs, waffles, crackers and more. Come on by anytime.

Our address is 655 Ferguson Rd. As you drive down the driveway you will pass some old stables. Just beyond the stables is an open area you can park in. Our Farm Stand Cabin is located on the right (north side). You will need to head down the pathway and continue around to the front of the building and enter the cabin off the front deck.
Friendly reminder, things are still a little rough around the edges. Please bare with us as we refurbish and get our little stand in shape!

Payment is through the honour system. We have a cash box on the table. If you do not have cash you can e-transfer to emily@growwild.com. All proceeds from our sales go back into the farm.
